Gynecological Check-Up
The most important step for women's health is the simplest: seeing a doctor once a year. Many gynecological diseases — cervical pathologies, fibroids, cysts, infections — cause no symptoms in the early stage. Catching them early makes treatment far easier.
What is it?
An annual check-up consisting of a gynecological exam, pelvic ultrasound, Pap smear and, when indicated, infection and hormone tests.
Who is it for?
Once a year for every woman who is sexually active or has reached age 21; without delay if there are complaints.
Risks?
Having no complaints does not mean being healthy — diseases such as cervical cancer develop silently for years. A preventive exam is worth more than treating a disease.
Which symptoms call for an immediate visit?
- Unusual discharge with odor or changed color, itching
- Bleeding between periods or after intercourse
- Persistent pain in the lower abdomen
- Pain when sitting and swelling in the intimate area (a possible sign of a Bartholin abscess)
Treatment approach
The visit starts with a conversation and continues with an exam and ultrasound; the Pap smear and any needed tests are taken on the spot. The results are explained in plain language and an individual prevention plan is drawn up. Discomfort is minimal — if you feel tense, say so and the pace is adjusted to you. For virgin patients, examination methods are chosen appropriately and the hymen is not touched.
